Cane Hill 10/03/2009

The site that greeted us when we arrived
So at long last I get to go to Cane Hill after finding a willing participant to join me (my lovely cousin). Its well demolished from the centre to the outside and I have missed so much of what used to be there. Still well worth a visit, even if it was just for a walk around the perimeter on the public footpath dodging trucks and watching bulldozers smash the place to smithereens.

Took the kids along and my cousins dog, Urbex Peg.

Almost walk onto site, a sheer mistake at the confusion of where the footpath went, pounced upon by the site foreman. Shown the way to the footpath and advised to be careful.

Such a shame that the place is being demolished to make way for flats/luxury housing and even a small town by the way the site foreman was speaking when we had a chat with him.

So on we go and come accross Admin which has long been missing its clockface and has a permanent Landrover parked outside.

Didn't get much further than Admin before we are approached be security, who were actually very nice despite what I have read about them. Maybe being a female with kids helps!! Are quizzed 'name rank and serial number' I explain that we have just come to take pictures of the place from the outside before it vanishes completely and state we would never enter the place because we aren't silly and have kids and a dog with us. Of course, didn't bother to say without the kids it might have been a different story. Let on our merry way with advice to stick to the footpath.
Not a lot left at Cane Hill but at least i've been and it might sound sad to most but it has been an ambition to go and see it, i'm just sad that it took me so long to get up there.
